David Cowell, P.E., Principal

David received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1984 and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla in 1990. His honors included membership in Chi Epsilon and Tau Beta Pi. He has more than fifteen years of experience in structural engineering.

Prior to the formation of Cowell Engineering, he was the manager of the structural department at Lapin-Ellis and Associates in St. Louis and also worked at McDonnell Douglas. His experience includes structural engineering design of new structures and evaluation, rehabilitation, renovation, and seismic analysis and retrofit of existing structures. His design experience includes: Single and multi-story commercial buildings and schools, industrial facilities, warehouses, churches, residential structures and specialized structures. He is familiar with the latest codes and standards for design using reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, tilt-up concrete, masonry, wood, structural steel and other metals.

David is a member of the Advisory Board for the Architectural Technology Program at Ranken Technical College in St. Louis. He is also a member of the Downtown St. Louis Rotary Club 11 and serves as Sergeant at Arms, and on their Business Development Committee.

David is a registered Professional Engineer in Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
